NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

It gives us great pleasure to introduce our new venture "Neurological Rehabilitation Services" as a part of various specialized Therapy Services offered at our clinic. Our primary goals are to prevent activity limitation and to maximize functional capacity of people with diseases, trauma, or disorders of the nervous system at his/her home, work & community environments. Some of the conditions that will require neurological rehabilitation services are  

  • Vascular disorders such as Cerebral Vascular Accidents
  • Infections such as meningitis, encephalitis, poliomyelitis & brain abscesses  
  • Trauma such as head and spinal cord injury  
  • Structural and neuromuscular disorders such as cervical spondylosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, brain or spinal cord tumors, peripheral neuropathy, muscular dystrophy, Myasthenia Gravis & Guillain-Barre syndrome.  
  • Degenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis & Huntington’s chorea.

Neurological Rehabilitation Services will help the individual to return to the highest level of function and independence, and to improve the overall quality of life for that individual -physically, emotionally and socially. Our neurological rehabilitation program helps the person with impairment to accomplish his /her fullest potential and will include the following: - 

  • Retraining of sensory motor abilities by neurophysiological, developmental or functional approaches.  (E.g. Neuro Developmental Technique)
  • An exercise program (to improve function, efficiency of movement; to prevent or postpone weakness caused by lack of use, to lessen the effect of spasticity & pain & to maintain joint range of motion)  
  • Activities to improve motor control and motor planning
  • Activities to improve cognitive and perceptual skills such as concentration, attention, memory, poor judgment, visual perception etc.  
  • Splint prescription and checkout to prevent contractures and deformities. 
  • Adaptive device prescription, fabrication and training for activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, bathing, using the toilet, hand-writing, cooking, and basic housekeeping.
  • Mobility aids prescription, checkout and training.   
  • Co-ordination and dexterity retraining.  
  • Gait and balance retraining.  
  • Counseling (to deal with stress, anxiety and depression)  
  • Social and behavioral skills retraining.  
  • Patient and family education regarding the disease & disease process
  • Involvement in community support groups.  
  • Vocational counseling.
